América Argentina Vaquerano Romero

America Argentina Vaquerano Romero

Born in 1958, in San Salvador. From a very young age she was influenced by her brothers who studied drawing and painting at the National Art School but the opportunity for her to learn never presented itself.

In 1992, she met Claudia Bernardi who arrived in Morazán as part of the Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team to carry on the first exhumation of the massacre perpetrated in 1981 against civilian victims at the small hamlet of El Mozote.

In 2005, while working as a community development promoter in rural communities, America met Claudia Bernardi who was founding the School of Art and Open Studio of Perquin. America immediately joined the school learning, finally, what she had always wanted to do, painting, drawing, creating art.

Since 2006 America has become Artist and Professor teaching drawing and painting; wood sculpture and joining as a facilitator in the creation of collaborative and community-based murals in different parts of the world.
